Ina Ho Cantonese Opera Research Centre of Hong Kong Metropolitan University will host the “Chinese (Cantonese) Opera Translation and Operatic Culture International Conference” on May 4, 2026 (Monday).

The Conference brings together local and international scholars to explore how Chinese operatic texts travel, transform and endure across languages and cultures. The Conference provides a focused platform for academic exchange, interdisciplinary dialogue and future collaborations in Chinese opera and theatre studies.

The programme is organized around three thematic panels: (1) Hsiung Shih-I’s journey from translator to theatre pioneer; (2) the challenges and sustainability issues of bringing Cantonese opera to the global stage; and (3) the Cultural Transmission of Chinese Theatre: from Asia to North America.

中國戲曲翻譯及文化國際學術會議

香港都會大學何陳婉珍粵劇研藝中心將於 5月4日（星期一）舉行「中國戲曲翻譯及文化國際學術會議」。

是次會議匯聚本地及國際學者，探討中國戲曲在不同語言與文化之間的傳播、轉化與存續。會議旨在促進學術交流以及跨學科對話，推動中國戲曲與戲劇研究的發展會議以文學、社會及人文視角為基礎，探討改編、文本翻譯以至唱詞翻譯等如何影響中國戲曲在海內外的流播。

整個會議議程聚焦翻譯研究、身份建構及跨文化等議題，會議分成三部分：

（一）熊式一——從譯者到劇壇先驅的發展歷程；

（二）粵劇走向國際舞台所面臨的挑戰與可持續發展問題；以及

（三）中國戲曲從亞洲傳播至北美的文化傳承。
